Would you recommend rental car for 4 days in Oahu- staying at RQ Waikiki Beach Hotel.?

Seems like we can take the bus around to everywhere, but we'd need car for north shore. I know parking is expensive and limited.Would you recommend rental car for 4 days in Oahu- staying at RQ Waikiki Beach Hotel.?
i would not rent a car, traffic there is very congested, i would only consider renting the car for one day to get to northshore, but they do have bus lines that go out that way, you just have to transfer, to another line, and its no extra charge to transfer, and make sure if you do take the bus you have exact change, because they dont carry change on it.Would you recommend rental car for 4 days in Oahu- staying at RQ Waikiki Beach Hotel.?
Absolutely. Honestly because of the rising gas prices a lot of locals are catching the bus now day and it's to the point the bus driver can't stop and pickup more people. It's hard to catch the bus to most places so i would have to say yes I totally recommend you renting a car. There are so many places that are far but are a real tourist attraction, trying to get there by bus is insane as well as uncomfortable. I'm sure your hotel would have a valet parking or a lot just for hotel guest so that should not be a problem.
we rented a car for one day and that was enough for us to go take a tour around the east side of the island, north shore and the pineapple plantation. It's so easy to get around b/c everything is right on waikiki beach and walking distance. there is a taxi service we used called charlies 808-531-1333. they were pretty reasonable and we were very impressed.

http://www.passportshuttle.com/ they charge $30 one way for up to 4 people with luggage and you get your own veh. the owner is very nice and is from wi originally if i remember correctly. plus you only have to call a coupel days before as they are never booked up.
I would recommend renting a car because of the freedom that it gives you to move around and in visiting all the attractions around the island. You are not bound to anyone else's schedules. Parking can be expensive, if you don鈥檛 do your research in finding cheaper parking. Unfortunately the Waikiki Beach Hotel charges $20 a day for parking, plus tip each time a lot attendant retrieves or parks your car - daily. If you walk a block up the street however to the ResortQuest Waikiki Banyan Hotel (corner of 201 Ohua Ave and Kuhio Ave) you can get parking for $8 a day or $52 a week. There is another parking lot another block away on Kuhio Ave with similar rates (can鈥檛 remember the name). See the link below for more car rental and parking tips. You may also locate the address on maps provided on the site. Good luck and enjoy your vacation!!!
You dont need a rental car. You can either take the city bus over to the N Shore or you can do a tour over to the N Shore.
I would definately recommend a car checkout this website http://www.hawaii-vacation-hotels.us Good Luck!!
If you're staying at the RQ Waikiki Beach, parking is not too bad at that end of Waikiki, the turn over of parking stalls is high. Get a car, it doesn't have to be an SUV or a convertible, just get the cheapest car you can get. Parking in Waikiki is not as bad as people put it out to be, it's not like it is in Manhattan or Downtown San Fran.
