We will be going to Rose Bowl on Jan. 7th from Huntingon Beach hotel, what is way to travel to and from?

Get to the lots are soon as they open to tailgate. Leaving you will not have a choice, as you will probably be forced to the 210

What, like there's an option? Haven't you heard that SoCal is the land of the car?

Unfortunaetly, there is no easy way from HB to Pasadena. HB would be one of the last places I'd stay in winter. The beach areas are cool in summer, but not much fun in winter, and they are not close to any freeways. I would have stayed in the Burbank area myself.

Anyways, your best bet is proabably to avoid downtown LA. I would take PCH north to Seal Beach Blvd, then take that north to the 405 north. Transfer to the 605 north, and take that all the way to the 210 west. Depending on when you go, traffic could get VERY bad as you approach Pasadena. Parking's going to be a bear, too.

Try this: Exit at Sierra Madre Villa and park in the free giant parking structure just north of the 210. THen take the Metro Gold Line rail to Memorial Park in Pasadena. There's a free shuttle that will take you to the Rose Bowl from there. (Beats paying $20-$30 at the Rose Bowl!)We will be going to Rose Bowl on Jan. 7th from Huntingon Beach hotel, what is way to travel to and from?
Stay away from Obviousman's suggestions. He must be like 900-years old and has people driving totally out of the way because 1) he doesn't really know b/c he just sits on his computer all day and hasn't really ever done anything. 2) he's afraid of LA.

The game is at 5:00 which is rush hour on a Thursdays, the worst day of the week. I suggest you leave early (noon-ish) and hangout in Old Town Pasadena for a little while before the game.

To get to Pasadena from the HB Hotel:

405N

605N (until it ends)

210W

- For Old Town = exit Fair Oaks

- For the Rose Bowl = exit Orange Ave (or whereever they have you getting off)

Huntington Beach is fun - summer or winter. The real problem is that your hotel is really not ';in'; Huntington Beach (ie. it's within the city limits but not near the beach!!). It's just near a pretend little mall thing; what you would consider Huntington Beach is going to be about 15mins away by car.

If you can change your hotel, I would consider the Shorebreak Hotel which is brand new, inexpensive, and right on the water. Or something in Long Beach like the Avia (also brand new). Or one of the chains in Huntington or Long Beach (Hyatt, Hilton, etc).

Have fun!!
there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely show you great hotels at the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
